Product Specification

An advanced but simple to use offshore survey program for the the Psion Series 3 , written to take full advantage of the Series 3's capabilities. Menus give easy access to functions and reactive dialogs make the program particularly easy to use. Offshore Survey 3 is designed for the Hydrographic Surveyor and Survey Ship's Officer and combined with a Psion Series 3 computer makes a handy pocket-sized survey tool.

OFFSHORE SURVEY 3 Includes: 

• Non-volatile memory for system settings
• Facilities for 20 spheroid definitions
• 20 projection definitions
• 20 survey control stations
• 10 datum shift definitions
• 10 offset definitions
• 10 standard tidal port definitions and 6 LOPs defined for computation
• Geodetic computations include conversion between grid, geographical and Cartesian co-ordinates, all with computed convergence and scale factor
• Conversion using datum shifts
• Computation of true and grid distances between grid coordinates
• Computation of great circle distance and bearing between geographical co-ordinates

Survey computations include: 

• Baseline lengths between any two stored survey stations
• Fix by range/range, hyperbolic, time pulse, range and bearing, grid or true bearings FROM (Intersection),grid or true bearings TO (Resection)
• Inverse fix using any of the foregoing methods
• Computation of free or supported chain catenary and chainage/clearance computation, shown on graphic display
• Target coordinates can be used for dead reckoning update
• Sun azimuth can be computed using an Almanac

Utilities include: 

• Tidal curve computed for a day with graphic display of curve and cursor to find individual heights and times. 
• Lines utility allowing definition of a pipeline route or individual lines; used during during fix computation to give alongtrack and offtrack data.

All ouput can be sent to parallel printer, serial port or disk file. Offshore Survey 3 is distributed by Dolphin Maritime Software Ltd on behalf of Hydro Projects Ltd.

Minimum System Requirements

Psion Series 3 or 3a Computer with 30 Kilobytes free internal disk space.
